Designing a space starts with composition - where the volume sits, how the light moves, and what’s worth bringing into focus.
Each project is shaped through proportion and tone, creating spaces where the eye moves easily and everything feels settled - as if it was always meant to be that way.
Natural materials bring depth and variation - stone, wood, surfaces that carry a bit of age and imperfection. Over time, these layers settle in, creating spaces with a sense of soul shaped by the life within them.
This approach guides projects ranging from full-home renovations to more focused design engagements, ensuring each space feels cohesive, intentional, and deeply considered.

“Kosma” speaks to a quiet sense of order - an underlying structure that allows a space to feel natural, resolved, and lasting.
FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL
Kara Piepmeyer
Studio Kosma is led by Kara Piepmeyer, a Los Angeles based interior designer working across luxury residential and hospitality spaces throughout California.
Trained in interior architecture at UCLA, she brings a strong foundation in proportion, spatial composition, and material to her work.
Prior to founding the studio, Kara led projects spanning ground-up luxury residences, hospitality spaces, and boutique retail interiors.
Today, her work is defined by a balance of restraint and richness - creating spaces that feel personal, layered, and built to last.
