OUR APPROACH
Every project begins with the architecture.
Before furnishings or finishes, we focus on the framework of a space - its proportions, circulation, and natural light.

From there, interiors are developed as an extension of the space itself. Millwork, materials, lighting, furnishings, and objects are considered together, creating rooms that feel cohesive and deeply resolved.
We are drawn to natural materials that gain character over time - stone, wood, plaster, and bronze. Materials that carry memory, bringing warmth, depth, and permanence to a home.

Rather than pursuing a signature aesthetic, we seek a sense of belonging. Every decision is guided by context: the architecture, the site, and the people who will inhabit the space.

The result is work that feels settled, personal, and enduring - as though it has always belonged.

ABOUT KOSMA

The name "Kosma" is inspired by the idea of order - not rigidity, but a sense of harmony between architecture, interior design, and daily life.

It reflects our belief that great design emerges when every element is considered as part of a larger whole.

The result is work that feels cohesive, personal, and enduring - as though it could never have been any other way.

FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL

Kara Piepmeyer

Studio Kosma is led by Kara Piepmeyer, a Los Angeles based interior designer working across luxury residential and hospitality spaces throughout California.

Trained in interior architecture at UCLA, she brings a strong foundation in proportion, spatial composition, and material to her work.

Prior to founding the studio, Kara led projects spanning ground-up luxury residences, hospitality spaces, and boutique retail interiors.

Today, her work is defined by a balance of restraint and richness - creating spaces that feel personal, layered, and built to last.
